The Fight for Omasya

Attack on Rshina
Part 2: Attack on Rshia

The next day starts with Pegason waking up to a knock at the door of Mavericks. He answers it to see Hajime who said he was summoned here as well. They wait for an hour until Maverick comes out to address them. He tells Pegason and Hajime that the Resistance will soon move and that Darren the Forger has been forging adamantine, crafting a special adamantine morningstar for Pegason. Maverick asks them to held to the Warehouse before him, as he has some unfinished business to attend to in his bedroom.

Pywright, Bastion, and Mephistopheles waking up to the sweet aroma of a freshly baked pie set atop their chest. Each contained a note from Giggs telling them to head to the Warehouse where a large amount of adamantine needed to be smelted. Now awake and slightly confused, they gathered themselves and ventured to the Warehouse. When they arrive, they see a human barbarian and halfling rogue standing idly while Darren worked the smelter. Asking Darren to smelt the adamantine for them, Darren placed the first one in, and a small explosion happened within the smelter. However, this wasn’t due to incompetence, because a series of other large thunderous noises followed by the ground shaking occurred. Pegason and Hajime, who were heading towards the Warehouse, turned around to see the western wall being torn apart by giants. The giants were destorying chunks of the wall and sections were flying into the town, crashing into the nearby homes.

Pegason and Hajime immediately turned back, fearing for Maverick’s safety. Pegason’s fears came true as he saw a large piece of the wall had landed on Maverick’s house, and Maverick was pinned from the waist down by the large stone. Pegason and Hajime attempted to left the stone to create a gap for Maverick to escape, but the massive stone was too heavy and his legs had been crushed. Continuing to try and free Maverick, they noticed a large mountain giant slowly making his way towards their position. Hajime ran towards it to try and hold it off, but after his first volley showed to have no effect, he decided that retreat was the best course of action. Maverick, still trying to be freed by Pegason, reached out and grabbed Pegason to bring him in closer. He told Pegason that he needed to run, and to find a man by the name of Clive Charles and tell him to set in motion “Operation Cavalier”. Not wanting to leave Maverick, he desperately tried one more time to free his father, but to no avail. Hajime ran to Pegason, picked him up over his shoulder, and ran further in town with Pegason in tow. Pegason watched in horror as the mountain giant lumbered towards the remnants of Maverick’s house, lifted the giant boulder and picked up Maverick. Maverick started playing “Sound of Silence” as the giant brought him to his mouth and proceeded to eat him.

Mephistopheles and the rest of the group were startled from the explosions, and went out to investigate. It didn’t take much to notice that a large number of giants had broken the western wall and had entered to attack the city. The Emerald Swordsman, who had the halfling rogue and human barbarian escort him to the city, came out to survey the situation. Withing six seconds, he surveyed the situation, said “got it” and went back inside. Mephistopheles went back in to ask the Emerald Swordsman what the plan was, and he told them to help defend the city, as he needed time to create something to help their predicament. Mephistopheles rounded up everyone at the warehouse, except Darren who was still at the forge, to go and fight the giants. They rushed west towards the battle through the abandoned streets when they saw Hajime carrying Pegason heading in their direction.

After letting Pegason down, Pegason informed the rest of the group what had transpired, and Hajime, realizing the scale of what was happening, rushed off north towards the church, with Pywright following right behind him. The rest of the group continued west until they approached the nearest giant and began their assualt. Swiftly striking at the giant, the party learned first hand the brutal strength of a giant, as Striker took two powerful blows that dealt him a tremendous amount of damage. The final blow came from Patty hitting the giant with a wand of magic missle. After the giant was killed, the party rushed to the next nearest giant and began to attack it. After dropping to near death, Striker rushed up and jumped to the giant’s head and with an impressive feat of strength, snapped the giant’s neck, instantly killing him.

Hajime and Pywright ran to the church where Hajime fanatically searched for Nanami, eventually finding her. Pywirght asked if they had a plan, and Nanami told them that they needed to defend the church as many townsfolk had came here for safety and protection. The three of them along with a few guards took position to defend the church. Soon, a giant began to make his way towards the church, where Pywright charged it while Hajime and the rest of the guards drew ranged weapon to shoot it. Pywright and the giant exchanged minor blows, with the difference being that every time Pywright took damage, she was instantly healed by Nanami. Hajime eventually slew the giant with a barrage of arrows. Pywright surveyed her surrounding and saw the rest of her group nearby and ran over to join them.

With a brief moment to collect themselves, the party weighted their options. There were several giants a short distance away, but Pegason wanted to find the the giant responsible for killing his father. That one was easily recognizable due to it being twice as large as any of the other giants. Pegason made an executive decision that they should go for the big one. Before they risked going to kill the enormous giant, Pegason wanted to grab the adamantine morningstar his father made for him. The group weaved their way through the countless battles between giants and the halfling guards defending their home to reach the Warehouse.

Pegason found his adamantine morningstar, while the rest of the party found some superior weapons and armor to equip themselves with. Bastion obtained a cold iron masterwork longsword and Pywright found a masterwork falchion and chain shirt. Fully restocked and equipped, Pegason formed a plan that required a carriage, several horses, a longsword, and plenty of rope. They headed to the stables where they happened to find a remaining carriage and three horses. Pegason took the one horse that reeked of booze (it’s Derrick the Drinker’s horse) and the other two were attached to the carriage. With Bastion manning the carriage’s reigns and the everyone but Pegason in the back of the carriage, they headed towards the biggest giant

After traversing across town, they spot the enormous giant demolishing the section of town he is in. Pegason maneuvers his horse up to the carriage and gets Pywright to join him on his horse to assist him in his part of the plan, which she jumps over and they continue onwards. The carriage unleashes a barrage of shots at the giant, with Patty being the only one to hit, getting the giant’s attention. It responds by throwing a large chunk of debris which strikes the carriage hard and causing only Striker to fall out. However, the horses attached to the carriage get spooked and start to run uncontrollably. The sudden violent motions caused everyone to fall out except Bastion, Patty, and the human barbarian.

With the giant distracted, Pegason and Pyrite approach it and stab it with the longsword with 150 feet rope attached to it and manage to firmly stick it into it’s achilles heel. Then they circled the giant and after doing that several times, pulled the rope and successfully tripped the giant, causing it to crash into the ground.

With the chaos caused from carriage being damaged, everyone riding the carriage were separated but made their way on foot towards the prone giant and started to attack the vulnerable monster. The giant struggled to get up and thrashed angrily at the one’s responsible for putting in onto the ground and managed to connect and send Pegason and Pywright flying to the ground, the blow dealing sufficient damage to stagger Pegason. Pegason manages to help Pywright to her feet, and she charges the giant and slashes it in the face, dealing the final blow to kill it.
(with the monster dead, the song ends)

Pegason manages to get to his feet and spends the next minute smashing the dead giant’s face in. He then takes the longsword stuck in the giant to cut open its stomach, where he sees several unfortunate bodies. He finds Maverick’s body and pulls it out of there to give him a proper burial. Pywright runs back to the church to check on Hajime and Nanami and finds that they are fine with a few more giants dead around their feet and church still perfectly intact.

The group went back to the remains of Maverick’s house where they intended to hold a funeral for him. Hajime dug a grave while Pegason searched the remains of the house and found Maverick’s prized golden lute. He then found a large boulder and broke off a large piece to use as a tombstone. A short service was held, with Mephistopheles reading a poem and Pegason delivering a speech. After the brief eulogy, Pegason etched the following into the tombstone

Maverick Hollingsworth
The Greatest Bard Who Ever Lived
Died as he lived; in someone else’s mouth

Pegason then laided the golden lute next to the gravestone and Bastion painted the the final resting place of Maverick Hollingsworth.

The group then went to the tavern for a drink, and Pywright and Pegason bonded over the loss of a family member that happened in front of their eyes. They then went to the Resistance headquarters to see who had survived and what the plan was moving forward. They were greeted by Marshall and Viral, who after learning what became of Maverick, told them that the only leaders left were the two of them, Giggs, and Scar, who had returned with news that the party should hear. Scar was summoned to the warehouse and the group was told to catch up to him there.

Arriving at the Warehouse, they saw Scar with half of his face gone talking to the Emerald Swordsman. On approach, they were greeted by the two and briefed about the events. Scar had stumbled upon a Citadel encampment with his men and got into a fight managing to escape. The one bit of good news was that he found out that Brutus was there. At this point, the Emerald Swordsman cuts in and explains to the party that the giants were not actually giants but Citadel soldiers who had magic that turned them into giants temporarily. The Emerald Swordsman then reveals that he was able to replicate the spell through and presents clothing that appeared to be hide armor and told the group that when they put it on it would turn them into giants for a short time. The plan was to use it on the Citadel encampment and take them by surprise and crush their forces there. The Emerald Swordsman only had enough materials to make enough for the player characters and since it was a dangerous mission, only those people who could become a giant should go. Bastion wanted to take Patty along but was advised not to, and Nanami along with Hajime elected to look after her until they came back, taking refuge in the main town hall because of the vulnerable state of Rshina with its broken defenses.

The group went several hours out to the encampment and stealthily approached the camp. When they got into position, everyone but Pywright (who was saving hers for a certain someone who killed her grandfather) put on the hide armor and transformed into to giants and wreaked havoc upon the camp. Within a short time, the encampment was decimated and the group returned to normal. It was at this point that they noticed a dwarf running into the forest. The group gave chase to find that the dwarf Brutus lying on the ground with a longsword through his chest and a young looking half elf standing in front of him. Mephistopheles approached and after brief questioning learned that the half elf was only a retainer who simply held the sword that Brutus ran into. Pywright simply killed the man for being associated with the traitor and searched his person to find a note. The note read that Brutus was tasked with infiltrating the Resistance from the start and that he did it only because of orders, he informed the people responsible for seeking revenge from Rshina that while they were away disposing of him, the real attack on Rshina was about to occur.

It took a moment for Pegason and Pywright to realize the gravity of the situation, but Mephistopheles was concerned for the people of Rshina and Bastion was deeply concerned with the safety of Patty. Led by Bastion, the group headed back to Rshina double time to find the destruction that lay before them. The main building looked to be a war zone from the outside, and emulated it on the inside, with countless dead bodies provided by the citizens of Rshina. The group found Hajime and Nanami dead. Hajime had several holes in his chest along with several of his weapons laying around his body. Nanami was nearby with only a single blow through the heart. There also appeared to be no sign of Patty. After checking and confirming that they were no longer alive, Hajime opened his eyes and instinctively lunged at the nearest person Pywright to attack, but pulled his attack before he connected. His body radiated he had Breath of Life cast on him several hours ago and that it finally took effect.

Rshina
Part 1

The group made it to the Halfling Resistance town of Rshina after a few days journey, and were welcomed to enter with little resistance (now that’s a great pun) when they realized that Pegason Hollingsworth, son of the great Maverick Hollingsworth, the greatest bard in all of Omasya. After proceeding through the gate, most of the party (with the exception of Bastion, Hajime, and Nanami) made their way through the town to The Slingshot Tavern, where Pegason was finally reunited with his father, who was telling one of his infamous story about a Mountain Giant (unintentional foreshadowing?). Maverick was ecstatic to see his son again and equally enthused when he saw Pywright and gave her all of his magnificent charm. The very first second Pywright saw an opening to slip out and escape she did and continued her quest to find more information about the person who killed her grandfather. She happened upon a mysterious Half Elf sitting alone in the tavern by the name of Clive Charles, who, after a monetary exchange, accepted the task of finding more about Old Man Henderson’s murderer.

Bastion went the church to be “religiony and stuff” when a small girl bumped into him running out of the church, and hid behind him. Two guards who were chasing the young girl asked Bastion to return the girl because she was an orphan and was trying to escape her temporary housing at the church. Instead of handing the girl over to the guards, he adopted her right then an there, filling out the appropriate paperwork to legally claim her as his own child. The girl’s name is Patricia, or as Bastion has ingrained into her, Patty.

When the party regrouped, Maverick insisted they come to the Resistance headquarters the next day to help out, after of course a night of drinking and fun. Maverick introduced Pegason to his adventuring buddy for a few years, Arctos, who Pegason and the rest of the group had encountered before. Maverick lived up to his expectation, being the center of the party and taking home a halfling woman to continue his own personal pleasure. When the next morning arrived, Pegason learned that Maverick had hired Hajime to be his bodyguard for the time being because of the danger he was putting his son in.

So the next day the group met the true leader of the Resistance, a halfling with many years on him by the name of Marshall Petain who asked everyone to perform a few small services to the town such like such as giving food supplies to the church and picking up potions to restock their own supply.

WIth the small stuff sorted out, Maverick then asked the group to track down three “rogue” Paladins known as “The Holy Misfits” that had disobeyed direct orders to stay within the city limits and went to the next town over. The group left for the town where they happened upon a the townsfolk surrounding the Paladins, thanking them for their service. The Paladins consisted of a pudgy gnome, a halfling wearing no armor, and their leader was a dwarf with the heaviest looking armor that probably weighed as much as he did. The group figured out that the town was having an aberration problem and the Paladins, who went by the name “The Holy Misfits” due to their abnormal race, size, and way of being a Paladin, had eliminated them. The Misfits knew they disobeyed orders, but they had agreed to help this town first and their honor forbid them to turn a blind eye.Led by Mephistopheles, the group convinced the Holy Misfits to come without a fight. However, as the group was leaving, a giant trapper aberration emerged from the ground trying to engulf Pegason, but he was pushed out of the way by Hajime who was engulfed instead. The party along with the Holy Misfits swarmed the aberration to kill it. The aberration finally fell after it disarmed the entire party, but Patty threw Bastion his sword back to mortally wound it and Hajime dealing the final blow, killing it from the inside after taking substantial damage.

The group led the Holy Misfits back to town where they would be held in the prison located under the town hall. Maverick and Marshall were delighted about their success and invited them to dinner a few evenings from then. Before this would happen, the group ran into their old buddy Derrick the Drinker who informed them of an item he somehow misplaced in a cave that also had a bunch of treasure that they could keep for themselves. After warning them of the dangers that could possibly be in the cave, the group went to the cave where it appeared someone had beat them to the punch. Every obstacle seemed to have been handled brutally as a line of destruction carved their path to the end of the cave. At the end of the cave was a trap door and two levers, with one of them already being pulled. Mephistopheles pulled the other lever, and the secret opening to the treasure room with several magical items. Patty was actually the one to identify the item that Derrick was probably looking for, a ring that could detect any tavern within 20 miles, and the group returned to deliver it back to him.

The day of the dinner, Maverick asked each person to bring a dish, Mephistopheles ordered a cake, Bastion and Patty made one, Pegason attempted to make a casserole that desperately needed a magical illusion to make it taste edible, and Pyrite hunted with Hajime and brought a bounty of meat. At the dinner, Maverick and Marshall informed them of the business of why they were all summoned here. The Resistance had been infiltrated, someone had been giving away vital information that only the founding members had knowledge of, meaning it was one of them. Maverick and Marshall asked the party to find out who it was by any means necessary and gave a list of the suspects.

Along with their names, there was a Half Orc named Viral who was in charge of inventory of non combat materials, a Halfling named Benedict who was in charge of diplomatic relations, a dwarf named Brutus who was in charge of the town’s defenses, a Half Elf named Scar who was in charge of scouting, a Halfling named Marina who was in charge of combat materials, and a Gnome named Giggs, who was in charge of finances and self appointed himself in charge of snacks.

The last time their was a mystery, Pegason and Pyrite used logical deduction and critical thinking to deduce who was the killer within the manor…. this time was much Much different. Running around with what can best be described as headless chickens, they proceeded to either attempted to directly confront people by asking them straight up if they wanted help overthrowing the Resistance or following them unsubtlely around town.
After an unsuccessful first day, Mephistopheles took the helm of the investigation, slowing eliminating possible suspects. First he got an augury which eliminated Marshall, Maverick, and Viral from suspicion. The next person they checked was Marina but the secret she was hiding was having an affair with Maverick, not turning traitor. Scar was acting secretive, but that was only because he was attempting to adopt but the child he was going to adopt died in burned down orphanage. Then Mephistopheles asked the non suspicious members about the remaining suspicious members and learned that Benedict was heavily in debt, Brutus seemed to being showing signs of slowing down and sickness, and Giggs was more a less a wild card. This immediately made Mephistopheles and the rest of the group investigate Giggs, which they broke into house/work (a bakery) at night. They were greeted by the question “Do you want to die now or die later?” which Mephistopheles replied yes, instantly gaining favor with Giggs who found that quite amusing, but the group left thinking they were made and didn’t want him to alert the authorities. The group came back the following morning and went through the front door and investigated a seemingly empty home/shop. After rummaging around, they found financial documents about the local gambling hall along with a message about installing a secret room in this house that gave very specific details of where it was and how to open it. They went into the room where they happened upon Giggs, a Halfling female named Harley, a male Halfling named Gnarly, and a human who Mephistopheles recognized as the person who was running the gambling hall. After attempting to question Giggs, he devulged that he knew whoever it was had incriminating evidence, they just needed to find it. This angered a human fighter named Striker, who had met the group and joined them in Farandyle and helped out when he was not searching for his vices, and he threatened Giggs with violence. Giggs asked for a moment alone with him and proceeded to throw a pie with knockout gas in it to incapacitate him and left a note in his pocket of how the party should proceed. The two remaining suspects were Benedict and Brutus. The note along with Hajime’s advice, was to break into both their houses and search for evidence of their betrayal when they aren’t home. When they brought their report to Maverick, he said he could get them all into a Resistance meeting and wing it for an hour, while the group split into two and searched both houses. The first group was Bastion, Patty, and Pegason who searched Benedict’s house. After Patty picked the lock, they searched diligently, and Patty found all of the documents Benedict was trying to keep secret, showing who he was in debt to. The second group was Mephistopheles, Striker, Pywright, and Hajime who searched Brutus’s house. All but Hajime (who stood outside to keep guard) climbed to an open second story window. Searching his place, they found papers that Striker identified as medical documents showing that he was suffering from an illness and was going to expire soon. The groups reconvened at Maverick’s house where they waited for him to return. While searching his home for anything of interest, the happened to find a note detailing plans to fire someone to kill Marshall by Maverick. Shortly after Maverick returned and was confronted by about the note, which he claimed to have never seen before. Striker then had the thought to compare the handwriting to the papers that they had found in the previous homes they searched, and discovered that the handwriting perfectly matched with Brutus’s documents.

The party went straight back to Brutus’s home, who should be heading there straight from the meeting, began to spread oil around it and set fire to his place, hoping to smoke him out or kill him for being the traitor. After his home was burned down, they realized he wasn’t there and began the search for him. The captain of the wall a halfling named Ida House informed them that Brutus had just left town an hour ago and the group collected themselves, rented a carriage, and gave chase. They were able to find the tracks for the first few hours but eventually lost all trace of where he went and went back to Rshina. They celebrated their victory of finding and removing the traitor from Rshina, although they did not eliminate him. Everyone was enjoying the festivities until Mephistopheles was approached by an Elf wearing a skull insignia on his cloak. Aptly named Skull, leader of the Skull Mercenaries, he instantly recognized Mephistopheles as the disgraced Citadel elite gave him a “friendly” warning to not interfere with him or his group. Mephistopheles, liquored up, didn’t care for the warning and instead gave a warning of his own, telling Skull if he threatened him or any of his friends again he would kill him, and walked off, stumbling out of the bar and falling face first into the ground. Unphased, the exchange only brought a smile to the Skull’s face.

Over the next few days, the group dismantled some local bandits and fought in the town’s arena to hone their skills some more. A few nights later, Maverick approached Pegason wanting to talk to him about something serious, his mother. He had learned that she is being kept in the Citadel, within the castle walls. He does not know why and tried to reach her but his efforts failed. This is the reason why he joined the Resistance, to get back his wife. He had more to say to Pegason about the plans of the Resistance, but he would discuss the rest with him tomorrow.

When We Last Our Heroes

The story so far

The adventure starts in a tavern called the Cuddly Boulder in Yordletown. After drinking and playing gambling games into the night, a brawl escalates and strangely everyone passes out. When the player characters of Pegason Hollingsworth, Old Man Henderson, Pywright Henderson, and Bastion awoke, they are found in a cell and learn that a patron at the bar was killed. However, instead of being punished, they were recruited to do a mission for a man in fully clad emerald armor who was known as the Emerald Warrior, for a simple escort mission to the Grey Garrison. Once there, they meet the ruler/owner of the Grey Garrison, Sir Rogar, who asks them to retrieve a rare item within a cave that is in the Jade Forest. In order to find the cave, the party enlists the help of a local ranger by the name of Hajime to guide them there. Once there, they went into the cave and dealt with the troubles that plagued the cave consisting of gnolls and mimics as well as a velociraptor until they accomplished their mission.

After returning to Yordletown, a few nights later in the middle of the night the party was stirred awake by the sounds of fireballs raining from the skies. When going outside the caravan to investigate, they found a large number of red and gold uniformed men attacking and burning the village. They immediately started fighting their way to the outskirts of town and eventually made it out. From that point, they hustled back to the secure walls of the Grey Garrison and were able to recollect themselves. At the Grey Garrison they learned that the attack came from the Citadel, the capital of Omasya and that war has officially broken out between the Citadel and the Resistance consisting mostly of the oppressed Halfling race as well as other factions. The orders of Paladins also joined the fight to try and bring justice and civil rule to the country divided, and Sir Rogar and his vasts amount of wealth was forming a militia to put his claim in.

Within the day at arriving in the Grey Garrison, a courier stationed there received a message to Old Man Henderson from the archmage of Waterdeep, requesting he needed to see him in person. The group set out for Waterdeep where they ran into a lone gigantic man in the woods who they soon learned went by the name of Arctos. After questioning him, they eventually asked him to come along with them and within the next few days ran into the former priest of Yordletown who was actually a necromancer by the name of Father O’Doyle. The group proceeded to destroy father O’Doyle and his abominations to rid the world of that small evil and continued to Waterdeep.

Arriving in Waterdeep, Old Man Henderson went to the Guild of Mages to meet with the Archmage and after returning a magical item he borrowed, received an invitation addressed to him and his granddaughter Pywright to meet at a manor in the rich district of a recently deceased noble for his will reading and to obtain possessions that would be left to them. Pegason ran into a fellow with white hair by the name of Komaeda and learned from him of a lottery that was going to happen in the rich district where one lucky person would receive a prize and would be allowed to enter. The group met in front of the building as Old Man Henderson and Pywright went inside. After all of the people who were invited were inside, the lottery began and a single name was picked out of a hat. The winner was Pegason Hollingsworth and he was allowed to go inside. Finally, a single man of upstanding nature who had taken vows (a Paladin) was requested to be in the premises to insure no foul play would break out amongst the guests, in which Bastion volunteered.

Once inside, the group met the other guests which consisted of their former employer the emerald warrior still fully cladded and Pegason recognized Komaeda. Immediately after introductions, a voice rang out loudly telling them of the trap that they were in. That there was no inheritance and that the only way to escape was to murder someone and get away with it without the others figuring out it was them. They then learned that the doors and walls were magically sealed and the token that was given to them at the door that allowed them entrance negated any magical ability until the mystery was solved. The first murder took place sometime in the middle of the night and the guests learned of in the morning. After an investigation, everyone went through the clues they had found to try and deduct who the murderer was. The wizard of the party had 22 intelligence and the Paladin had the ability to detect alignment, but it was the bard Pegason and the barbarian Pywrght who solved the mystery using deductive reasoning. Soon after the trial, the group explored the entire building and found false and true clues as to who the mastermind behind this really was and were eventually able to eliminate her and escape.

It was during this time however that Komaeda knocked out and kidnapped Pywright, leaving behind clues for her grandfather Old Man Henderson to find her, but on the condition that he comes alone. After giving the slip to the rest of the party, Old Man Henderson tracked down Pywright’s whereabouts to a manor on the other side of the rich district. When he entered the manor, he saw Pywright unconscious next to a menacing figure with a distinctive appearance of an ash covered face, red scarf, and bandaged left arm as well as several other shadowy figures. The menacing figure ordered them to kill and Old Man Henderson fended off a few before he was overwhelmed and knocked unconscious. When Pywright regained consciousness, she watched as the menacing figure killed her father by dropping him from a second floor balcony, causing Pywright to fly into a rage, break from her bonds, and start killing all the shadowy figures while the distinctive man and a few of his cohorts vanished into the night. After everything was resolved and all of the figures had fled or died by the hands of Pywright, she found her group she was traveling with and informed them of her grandfather’s passing. The funeral was held the next day and Pywright vowed to find the person who killed her grandfather and return the favor.

After the funeral, Pegason, Pywright, and Bastion hit up the local tavern where they ran into a down trotted elf by the name Mephistopheles as well as their old acquaintance Hajime who was traveling with a female cleric named Nanami. After pleasantries were exchanged, Pegason began to feel the effects from his drink that had a curse placed in it, and saw the man responsible for doing was Komaeda, who was promptly captured. After a brief conversation, most of them had a similar destination traveling north and decided to travel together.

The first place they headed was the Paladin town of Crosshatch were Bastion was born and raised. However, upon arriving, they found the city to be at the aftermath of a large scale battle, with death scattered across the streets. All of the Paladins of Shelyn within the town were decimated and the party eventually found the remaining culprits responsible for destruction near the main hall in the center of town. They looked identical to paladins but draped in black armor who called themselves the Black Guard, a secret order of the Citadel. The two sides instantaneously clashed, and once the party gained the upper hand through the unexpected and brief intervention of Arctos, a few of the members retreated into the main hall and then used a scroll of teleportation to escape. The party then found a map showing targets of where they were going to strike next, showing the resistance city of Rshina and Pegason’s hometown of Farandyle, which Pegason convinced the group to head to next since it was closer and was in more immediate danger. The party then realized that Komaeda had escaped during the commotion of battle and was able to slip away.

The group safely made it to Farandyle, although Pegason’s curses were still in full effect, changing his race, size, and gender to point where he was unrecognizable. The city was safe and untouched from Citadel forces allowing the party to safely gather supplies and explore what the town had to offer. Pywright and Mephistopheles found an underground fighting arena and fought there to improve their battle prowess. Pegason eventually was able to rid himself of the curses and found out that his father whom he had been searching for since Yordletown had traveled to Rshina.

Before they proceeded to Rshina, Pegason volunteered his party members to join a play called “The Raccoon who made friends with a tree” that was being held in the Farandyle theater. Everyone got supporting roles and practiced for the next few days. When the play commenced, everyone went out and performed adequately, with the exception of Mephistopheles, who played a bush while drinking the entire time on stage. Somehow, the audience found this to be an artistic representation of nature’s blind ignorance with humanity and was given a standing ovation, which he promptly fell of the stage in a drunken stupor. This was fortunate for him as he spotted an assassin in the skylights of the building while flat on his back and after the assassin made his kill on one of the leading actors (a druid’s familiar raccoon), Mephistopheles was able to pursue him, and kill him in a fight that took place 50 feet up in a tree with the help of Pegason blinding him, which led the assassin to fall from the tree to his death.

Soon after, an intoxicated dwarf by the name of Derrick informed them of a treasure in a cave a day’s ride away, which the party adventured to, slaying the monsters that laid in front of them ranging from swarms of poisonous locusts to a large minotaur to obtain the treasure that found it way into the cave. After returning and giving Derrick an item for the cave that belonged to him, the party consisting of Pegason, Pywright, Bastion, Mephistopheles, along with Hajime and Nanami set off for Rshina.
